Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s most celebrated Sherlock Holmes story gets a gloriously funny makeover in this ‘wonderfully barking spoof’ (Daily Telegraph) for a cast of three actors playing multiple roles.
When Sir Charles Baskerville is found dead on his estate, with a look of terror still etched on his face, and the paw prints of a gigantic hound beside his body, the great detective Sherlock Holmes is summoned from baker street, with Dr Watson in tow, to unravel the mysteries surrounding his death, and investigate the ancient curse of the hound of the Baskervilles.
Written by John Nicholson and Steven Canny for the hit comedy team Peepolykus, this version premiered at the West Yorkshire playhouse, Leeds, UK in 2007, where it broke box-office records, before touring the UK and transferring to the West End.
Packed full of verbal and visual ingenuity and offering abundant opportunities for silly comedy and slapstick, this version will suit any theatre company looking for a sublimely funny adaptation of a classic tale.
Since 2007, the play has been produced by theatre companies around the world, many of whom have added additional performances to meet demand, extended the run or brought the show back in the next season.

‘Unites constantly inventive physical and verbal comedy with a cheeky respect for the original’
WHATSONSTAGE.COM‘A mad hilarity that will make you feel quite sane’
SUNDAY TIMESINTERNATIONAL REVIEWS:
‘The entertaining and agreeable play within a play adaptation of the hound of the Baskervilles should be winning over audiences in regional theatres, summer stock and community theatres for some time to come’
WWW.TALKINBROADWAY.COM‘The show strikes the silly-yet-dignified tone of vintage british sketch comedy’
ASBURY PARK PRESS, NEW JERSEY‘This side-splitting parody of the sherlock holmes story turns a tale of terror on the desolate moors of victorian england into a mile-a-minute comic romp’
SUN JOURNAL, MAINELaugh and cry in equal measure as Emma Bovary chooses the wrong husband. Lose yourself in mesmeric love scenes featuring a stupendous collection of devastatingly handsome men. Question the impotence of women in a Victorian patriarchal society, if you want. Marvel at how many parts a Spanish man with limited English can play with only one moustache. There will be vermin, visual absurdity, wild animals and a nun.
A story of international espionage and state secrets. With government agents watching their every move, these actors will stop at nothing to reveal the truth.
Unfortunately, they’re in rehearsals for the Importance Of Being Earnest – but that’s not going to stop them… don’t miss this brand new show that takes on the CIA, FSB and FBI – you’ll be shaken, stirred and in stitches with laughter. 3 male and 2 female performers.
REVIEWS:
‘Theatre has renewed its licence to laugh… Spyski justifies every one of the adjectives that get flung too readily at this sort of high-comic caper. So if words such as ‘uproarious’, ‘anarchic’, ‘joyful’, still have any purchase, their hour has come’
THE TIMESREVIEWS:
‘A wonderfully original, funny and wholly festive offering’
